Hoburne Park Access

What is the public transport provision?
Hoburne Park is located 2 miles outside of Christchurch with two public transport services provided by Wilts & Dorset and Transdev Yellow Buses. Wilts & Dorset service no.121 runs every hour from just outside the Hoburne Park entrance; this bus provides a service to Christchurch, Bournemouth and Lymington while Transdev Yellow Buses, 1A, 1B and 1C run a scheduled service to Christchurch and Bournemouth every 15 minutes from outside the Sainsbury Superstore, which is a 10 minute walk away from the park. Services will take you to the main shopping areas and rail stations. Hoburne Park also offers our own Green Bus service to our customers during the summer season, with the pick up point at the main reception entrance for Christchurch and Bournemouth. Please ask at reception on all scheduled bus services as the timetable is extensive.

Is a collection service available from local public transport links?
There are numerous Taxi services available locally, please ask at reception for a business card or ask any of our reception team to make a booking for you, especially if any of our customers need to make a special request. We use the main local operator Chritax 01202 470000 or Accessible Transport 01425-615860 for specially adapted vehicles.

Can delivery of provisions be arranged?
Hoburne Park has a ‘no delivery’ policy, except for special needs, as we feel it would spoil the quiet surroundings of our park. There is a general store just off the complex where they do make provision to deliver to this park, for orders below £10 there will be a small charge for delivery, for orders above £10 there is no charge for the service. Reception will give the telephone number of the shop once authorised.

Does the reception and clubhouse have car parks with allocated bays?
At present there are no allocated spaces for disabled or parent/child bays; Hoburne Park offers a large level car park with plenty of parking, with assistance, accessible to a wheelchair user.

Do specific pitches have parking alongside?
There is no parking alongside our holiday units; however, we provide plenty of parking bays near our holiday caravans.

Are there undulating roads on the park?
The park roads are mostly flat, although there is a slight incline to the top of the park, there are ‘traffic calming’ speed bumps in some areas and as safety features very strongly at our park we set a speed limit of 10 mph around the park.

Is there a drop off lay-by for cars/coaches?
We don’t have a lay-by for cars and coaches but there is a drop off zone adjacent to the reception and club house main entrance.

How many steps are there to the main entrance? Is there a ramp to the main entrance?
There is level access to the main clubhouse and reception from the front entrance which consists of block paving with a drop kerb for ease of use for wheelchairs.

I am hard of hearing and wear a hearing aid. Do you have an induction loop at reception?
Yes, the park has an induction loop in reception, bar areas and entertainment rooms, there are signs displayed in all these areas to indicate where the induction loop is and how to use them. Our reception team have been trained to offer assistance should it be required.

Can you provide me with assistance to ‘settle-in’?
We don’t provide a ‘settle-in’ service but should you need help or assistance during your holiday with us, please mention this to our reception team who will be happy to help or offer reassurances and advice.

Are there automatic or revolving doors?
Is the ground level throughout?
Are there steps between levels on the ground floor?
How many storeys are there? Is there a lift?
Is there a talking lift with Braille signs?
Is there a good colour contrast to floors, walls and doorways?
Are floors and rooms clearly signed with raised numbers?

All the public areas within the complex, including the bar, restaurant, reception, clubhouse and launderette are on one level. There are double doors to the entrance to the reception and club to allow access for wheelchairs. The décor and colour has been chosen to show a marked difference between walls and carpeting throughout the complex with all our entrances displaying signs above the doors.

Does the family changing room have level access to the shower/s?
There is level access throughout the complex with our swimming pool offering a disabled toilet for changing and a disabled double door entrance to the swimming pool with level access for wheelchairs to the showers. The swimming pool has a sloping entry to the water, with no steps.

Is there an accessible unisex toilet within the reception area/clubhouse?
There are two disabled unisex toilets on the complex, one in the main reception area which consists of handrails above and next to the toilet, low level mirror and hand basin. The reception adapted toilet does have an emergency alarm pull that is linked to the reception office, the other disabled toilet is located in the swimming pool area with all of the features of our reception toilet with the exception of the emergency alarm.

Does the park have both caravan holiday homes and touring pitches? How many caravans have ramp access and a spacious interior?
Hoburne Park caters for caravan holiday units only. There are no caravans with ramps, or especially adapted caravans, although the management would look closely at alternatives to those who need assistance. Please advise us when booking, so we can offer the best solution.

Are there bedrooms adapted for wheelchair users? Can task lighting be provided on request?
We have no specially adapted caravans, or caravans with task lighting.

Are assistance dogs welcome? Is a ‘free run’ area allocated for dogs?
Although Hoburne Park has a no dog policy with no ‘free run’ area, special consideration would be given to allow for assistance trained dogs.

Is there a 24 hour service?
There is a 24 hour service available; Hoburne Park reception is open from 9am to 6pm
7 days a week with the clubhouse hours from 9am to 11pm. We also provide a security patrol service at night with an emergency number available on the window at reception to contact them if required.

Is there a table service available in the clubhouse or restaurant?
There is table service in our restaurant but not in our club house.

Can wheelchairs be hired?
Although we have no wheelchairs for hire, reception hold various telephone numbers of mobility services who offer a prompt delivery to our park. Please advise us at the time of booking so we can arrange this service and we will ensure that a wheelchair will be available for you on your arrival.

Is there mobile phone coverage?
There is coverage for most mobile phone networks however; as the park is set amongst trees there might be some interference or no coverage in certain places.

Are members of staff trained in disability awareness?
Some of our staff members have attended courses in deaf awareness and sign language. Within our induction policy all new receptionists attend a brief of The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 as it gives them full understanding of legal requirements, customer care, satisfaction and service.

Is accessible information available: menus – large print brochures – audio – Braille?
Please contact the reception team to discuss personal requirements for menus, all our menus are clearly printed, however, if a request is made to make the print larger, we would be delighted to do this for you. At present we do not have large print brochures, Braille or audio.
