What our guests say:
Lots of our guests say they come to Hoburne to relax; with loads of entertainment on site for the kids and the chance to escape the daily grind in one of our holiday apartments, it's a great place to de-stress.
For a really relaxing holiday however, switch off the TV, unplug the laptop and remember to pack some of these:
Books
Studies by the University of Sussex have shown that reading is the best way to relax. Apparently, reading a book works more effectively than listening to music, a walk or even a cup of tea.
Psychologists attribute this to the gentle distraction that reading provides. Whatever the reason, packing a few paperbacks to help you while away a few hours in (or even outside) your holiday apartment sounds like a good idea - but maybe leave the tense page-turners at home.
Favourite songs on MP3 player
Research has shown that listening to music releases 'feel good' endorphins in your body. Alternatively, why not check out what musical entertainment is happening on park?
Sun hat
Perhaps unsurprisingly, research has shown that ultraviolet light (UV) has a calming effect on the human body. While we can't control the weather, being in the south west means we do enjoy our fair share of sunshine at Hoburne. Whether you're relaxing outside your holiday apartment or taking a stroll on the beach nearby, wearing a sunhat means you can enjoy the relaxing effects of the sun without the undesired effects of sunstroke or overheating. Don't forget to use a high SPF sun cream either.
Swimsuit
Many people find the rhythmic pace of swimming and feeling of floating very relaxing. Enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools available at Hoburne Naish or take a swim in the sea nearby.
