The New Forest boasts more than 200 square miles of unspoilt forest, heathland and coastline, just waiting to be discovered on foot, by bike or even by hoof! Remember to slow down for the ponies on the narrow streets of Beaulieu, famous for the National Motor Museum which is home to over 250 vintage cars, motorbikes and more, so pop in if you’ve got a couple of hours spare.
Why not uncover the legends of dragons and witches in the pretty village of Burley, also home to New Forest Cider, or enjoy a traditional cream tea and a warm welcome in the Georgian market town of Lymington.
Take a break for an evening meal at one of the homely pubs located in the new forest. They welcome walkers and children with delicious menus and outdoor areas to play in and beautiful garden areas to enjoy. Alternatively, just a short walk west is home to the picturesque fishing quay at Mudeford Village. Crabbing here is great family fun- for kids and big kids, all you need to do is tie a tasty morsel of fish on to a line, dunk it into the water, wait a few minutes and then (hopefully) pull up a crab. The crabs don’t seem to mind- the locals reckon each crab is caught twice a day! There’s a car park at the quay, and you can be sure to buy everything you will need including buckets, lines, nets and bait.
As you return from your adventurous day, you’ll want to sit down and unwind with an evening meal without the stress of cooking and washing up.
