MP visits Hoburne for English Tourism Week

Liberal Democrat Torbay MP Adrian Sanders visited Hoburne Devon Bay in Goodrington as part of English Tourism Week.

He looked around the caravan accommodation, all the park’s facilities, including swimming pools and entertainment room, and enjoyed refreshments in the new coffee bar.

He was even welcomed by Hoburne’s loveable mascot Sammy Seahorse.

“It was a pleasure to meet Sammy and the rest of the team at Hoburne Devon Bay. Tourism is so vital to this area, and the country as a whole, and it was great to meet staff working for a family business that dates back more than 100 years,” he said.

“We spent time discussing Hoburne’s history and challenges the industry faces, including tourism VAT; I am supportive of calls for a cut in the rate and am pressing for a feasibility study to assess the impact.”

Some 50 per cent of the UK population will take a break on a holiday park in their lifetime. One in 10 regularly holiday in a touring or mobile caravan.
