Have you got star quality? Think you could be our star for 2024?

If the answer is ‘yes!’, then you should enter our ‘Search for a Star’ national competition, taking place at five Hoburne holiday parks! Qualifying rounds and park finals will decide who will go to Hoburne Devon Bay to compete for the title of national champion in each talent category. 

All Hoburne holidaymakers, owners and leisure members can take part, whether you are 4 or 94, so don't miss your chance to show what a star you are!

Please note: Performers must provide their own music. Vocalists must sing to a backing track or a cappella. Performers must provide their audio on iPad, iPod, phone or laptop with an aux cable.
Due to licensing, all music must have been purchased. Streaming music through platforms such as YouTube and Spotify, will not be allowed.

PARK FINALS | Friday 27th September – Monday 30th September 2024

Winners of the qualifying rounds will be invited back for the park finals on Friday 27th September – Monday 30th September 2024.

Those asked to return will receive a significant discount on the price of accommodation (£75 for the weekend).

HOBURNE FINALS | Friday 22nd November – Monday 25th November 2024

Park final winners will be invited to the national finals at Hoburne Devon Bay to compete against the other park winners (complementary 3-night break included).

The ultimate winner from each category will win a £500 star prize and be crowned the Hoburne Holidays National Champion 2024!

All competitions are bookable at reception free of charge. There is no limit to how many can book.

What can you expect?

You will be given rules and regulations on arrival, which you will need to sign and agree to. You will also need to sign a consent form, giving us your details to use if you progress to the next stage.

Rules & regulations

 For all age ranges, the Search for a Star competitions will be held in the same format and contain the same rules and judging requirements. Winners of the qualifying rounds will be awarded a place in the park finals. 

Park final dates:

Friday 27th September - Monday 30th September 2024


National finals:

Friday 22nd November – Monday 25th November 2024

 at Hoburne Devon Bay.

Part 1Registration & auditions
All contestants wishing to take part in any of the Search for a Star competitions will be required to attend auditions and registration on the day of their age ranges competition at the venue at the programmed time.


Due to the nature of our parks / venues and restrictions imposed our insurers we are unable to audition or feature hypnotists, any form of nudity, acts that involve the throwing or juggling of fire/knives/swords or the use of hazardous materials/device.

Contestants may perform any form of “talent” but within the guidelines of public decency.  If you are unsure, please approach a member of the Hoburne Group Ltd management of entertainment team for further clarification. 
Contestants will be restricted to the number of guest’s / family members they bring along to the auditions and registration and implemented by discretion of the Hoburne Group Ltd management or representative.

All contestants must bring along to rehearsals all props, music, backing tracks and elements involved in their performance.
Contestants are not permitted to “singalong” with the original track and backing tracks or karaoke tracks must be used.  Where no tracks are available then the contestant will be allowed to perform with no backing music which will result in no direct alterations or gains to the judges marking. 

Contestants’ performances must not go over 6 minutes.
Any performances extending over 6 minutes will be stopped during their performance and judges marking will reflect.
If over 10 contestants attend registration for entry into any one competition the Hoburne Group Ltd management reserve the right to mark and only put through a maximum number of contestants to the evening competition.  
Employees or immediate relatives of any employees working for the Hoburne Group and sponsors will not be allowed to enter.
 
 Part 2: Evening competition
Three independent judges from the guests/audience shall be approached prior to the competition and if they are chosen as judges their immediate family or friends may not take part in the competition.  If 3 independent judges cannot be found, then Hoburne Group Ltd management will provide independent judges from their internal park teams.
All contestants performing in the competition must be available when called to the stage by the entertainment team.
 
The judges will be advised to mark the contestants on the following categories.  All categories are marked out of 10 points.
 
Presentation   - How they present their performance with consideration to stage, costumes, audience etc
 
Originality & content:
Are they performing something different? Is it an original talent? 
 
Star quality - Are they the next big thing?  Will they be a star of the future?
(The same judge’s categories will be used when marking in all competitions) the judge’s marks will be written down and physically recorded.

An independent adjudicator will be a member of the Hoburne Group Ltd to ensure all scores are correct.
 
Judge’s decision is Final.  Any competitor entering a competition he/she must accept as final the verdict of the judges and their individual markings and no appeal against that verdict or markings may be made.
